The Old Airvault Castle

AIRVAULT is classified as a “Cité de Caractère” (small town with character) with its captivating abbey church of St Pierre, one of the jewels of Poitou Romanesque art, its 18th century covered market, and underground spring. Also of historical interest are the former abbey (now a museum of country life), picturesque narrow streets with 15th and 16th half-timbered houses, two medieval bridges and the 11th to 14th century CHÂTEAU.
